Expect the unexpected.
Life has been full of not much and a whole heap at the moment. We have been surprised with Steve having an unexpected day off on Monday so we are packing up the rug rats and heading to Epako Game Lodge for the night, a last animal hurrah before the move to Cape Town which is rapidly approaching. The past few weeks have flown by with birthday parties, crew parties, hangovers, trip to set, Sonny's first fat lip (self-inflicted, not his Ace!), pre-school, play dates and the daily grind. Here are few pics for your weekend.

The Desert and the Sea
Last Saturday Ace and Steve went on the Living Desert tour with Swakop's answer to Steve Irwin. Whilst it was great daddy/ace time I think perhaps there was a little too much talking for a 3 year old, luckily there was lots of sand to have fun in. However they did see snakes and chameleons and other desert creatures... but you'll have to talk to Steve about that.
On Sunday I hit the water to go kayaking with the seals and dolphins & Noni and Sophie. It was fantastic to finally spend some time on my own and to enjoy the serenity of the sea.

Day Tripping
On Sunday we drove south to Walvis Bay and the salt flats where Steve had been shooting for the past few weeks to check out the flamingos. We have seen them fly by our house, strange, skinny flying sticks so it was great to see them prancing around in the water. We then had a delicious meal at Anchors, calamari that was incredible and beautiful fresh fish. I can't fault the seafood here, which is probably why the day before Swakopmund celebrated National Fish Consumption Day, what a day, what a slogan!

PS - After having a quiet (maybe not so quiet) word with my husband, we all might be lucky enough to see a few more photos of moi on the blog.
PPS - Happy Anniversary Babe .... you make being married easy! xx

Our first attempt at a family shot. Few things to work on, next time don't get Shaun to take it, don't do it close to sunset and have had a word with Steve and his big hand placement! |

The Art of Craft.
Katrina the Cleaner and the boys. |
My sick babies. |
Well the school holidays turned out to be a bust! By Monday morning Ace had croup and by Thursday it had developed into bronchitis. Sonny followed suit and then Steve copped it too. Over a week later we are finally on the mend and the boys are happy again.
It wasn't all dull though, it was quite nice to take it slow and go back to the good old days of not having to be anywhere at any time. Ace and Sonny were both thrilled to see Katrina the cleaner, Ace hadn't seen her for a few months because of pre-school so it was quite the reunion. I have always referred to her as Katrina the cleaner to help Ace remember the multitude of new people in his life so it was lucky that Katrina found it funny/cute when he constantly called her Katrina cleaner! Ace has a thing with always using adults names... a lot, particularly those he likes.
Lately I decided I needed to get my craft on for Ace's sake, so after avoiding it for many years we created a craft box, purchased all manner of craft like things and got crafting. We made a rocket and some medals. I learnt a few valuable lessons, it is hard to craft with a toddler in the mix, Sonny needs his own toddler version of said craft activity, it doesn't need to be perfect, documenting craft will sometimes end in tears and be prepared for obsession closely followed by trashing then complete disregard!

Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day Dad! You are an incredible father, an outstanding Pa and one good-looking dude in a suit. Thank you for everything, renovating, moving and for loving your grandsons fiercely (even as scrawny newborns!). We are so very lucky. Go City!
